Apostolic Preterist

The beast was Israel

This is not only past beast scriptures from other articles I've done, but a brand new section on how the beast was wounded and healed using scriptures from Jeremiah and Revelation & Revelation 13 and Daniel 7.

Most people who are preterists believe the beast was Nero or Titus. The problem with Nero is that he was dead before Rev 19:19 where the beast was getting ready to make war against God and his army. This also is a problem for Titus being the beast because of the way that Rev 19:19 is worded. It says “ and I saw the beast (Israelites) and the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered together to make war against him (Jesus) that sat on the horse, and against his army (Romans). Most people will not argue that the man on the horse was Jesus, because Rev 19:11-16 leaves no doubt that it was Jesus on the horse. Jesus army was the Romans, because his old bride had committed adultery, crucified him and killed his saints and apostles and now he was using the Roman armies to destroy his old bride and their city. Knowing this when you read Rev 19:19 it is obvious the beast and his armies were on one side and Jesus and his armies (The Roman armies) were on the other side. That means neither Nero nor Titus could have been the beast. In the next verse in Rev 19:20 the beast was taken and with him the false prophet and they were cast alive into the lake of fire. Nero nor Titus were cast alive into the Lake of Fire. Nero committed suicide years before the war and Titus died and was not cast alive into the lake of fire either. The Israelites that rejected Christ were the ones that were in the lake of fire, which was the fires of Jerusalem burning in 70 A.D. In the old testament and in the new Testament the prophets would prophecy to Kings false prophecies because they didn't want to hear the truth. In verse 20, the false prophet was Israel. In the old testament the Gentiles were considered unclean and beasts. In the new testament the Israelites that rejected Jesus and his new covenant he divorced and his new people were the Gentiles and remnant of Jews that he spared. Now it was his old bride that had become the beast. Rev. 19 is the beginning of the story of the wedding feast. God invites the fowls to gather unto the supper of the great God in verse 17 God kills the remnant that rejected him, and the fowls were filled with their flesh, according to verse 21,. What's interesting is that they dined on the flesh of Kings, captains, and horses according to verse 18. If this were future, then they would not be dining on Kings. They would be dining on soldiers. Kings do not go to war literally. They send their soldiers to war. There are hardly any kings left in the world today. They would also not be dining on horses. because we have tanks and vehicles now. Remember futurists it can not be symbolic, because you believe that you are suppose to take bible prophecy literally.

Ecclesiastes 3:16-19

16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity

Before I get into The Beast of Revelation I want to show three places where the Isrealites are referred to beasts. 1st Corinthians 15:32 Here Paul calls the men of Ephesus beasts- “32 If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.”

In Titus 1:10-16, Jude 1-19, and 2nd Peter chapter 2 the Isrealites are spoken of very badly. They are referred to as Beasts. I will put these sciptures below if you do not want to read the whole thing. The word beast will be highlighted in the three places used in these scriptures.

Titus 1:10-16- 10 For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

Jude 1-19- 1 Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,To those who are called, sanctified[a] by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:2 Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you 3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. 4 For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God[b] and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.12 These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about[c] by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots; 13 raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: 18 how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. 19 These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

2nd Peter chapter 2 2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you14 Having eyes full of adultery, (remember Israel is the whore of Revelation that cheated on her husband God) and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Wound by a sword and healed

Many have speculated on who the beast is will be or was. When you read Rev. 13:2-4 You see that the beast was wounded with a sword and that wound was healed causing the world (age) to wonder after the beast and to worship the dragon (Satan). When you read in Jeremiah which I have the scriptures below, you will see that it was Israel that was wounded with a sword when she was taken into captivity by the Babylonian army for 70 years. Sometimes especially in Bible prophecy the Bible gives a duel prophecy. I believe Jeremiah and rev are good examples of this. Besides the Bible says, first comes the natural (or first) and then the spiritual (second). The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual 1 Cor 15:46 The reason I think he does this is to conceal the spiritual meaning so his people can find it out. A good example is when Israel was healed when God brought her back to their land and restored their temple first naturally and then spiritually during the Jewish Roman war on the last day. Below I have color coordinated the scriptures in Revelation so you can find the matching colors in Jeremiah and see it was speaking about Israel. I did not put all of Rev 13 only the scriptures relevant to this subject.

The Beast Out of the Sea REVELATION

Rev 13:2-4 And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion (Below I have an article explaining what this symbolizes.) And the dragon (Satan) gave him his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4they worshiped the dragon (Satan) because he gave his authority to the beast; (Israel) and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?"

Rev 13:5-6 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months (3 ½ yrs the trib was from 66 ½ to 70 A.D exactly 3 ½ yrs. The first 3 ½ years was the 1st h half of Dan. 70th week, when Jesus preached the new covenant message until he was cut off in the mist of the week). 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. Rev 10- “If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity they will go. If anyone is to be killed[c] with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” In 12 whose fatal wound had been healed In 14- It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

12 For thus saith the Lord, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy,(This is speaking first of what God caused Babylon to do to Jerusalem, the temple, the Israelite naturally, and spiritually to the unbelieving Israelite jews who he would not heal but be killed by the Romans in 70 A.d.) with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.15 Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey .( This appears to be a prophecy of first the natural unbelieving Israelites who were persecuting the prophets Jeremiah Isaiah ect., and second the spiritual unbelieving Jews persecuting christians that were going to be devoured, and the Israelites were, by natural Babylon and then the Jews were by spiritual Babylon/ Jerusalem ).For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, ( this is speaking of healing Israel by restoring them back to Jerusalem & building again their temple and Israelite remnant believing Jews being spiritually restored in 70Ad).saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, (After he says he will heal them of their wounds he calls them Zion so we know it was Israel that was slain)whom no man seeketh after18 Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents (this says that they again wil go into captivity. This happened twice first the natural when Babylon captured them and second the spiritual when the Romans captured them in 70 Ad.) and have mercy on his dwelling places; and the city shall be builded upon her own heap, and the palace shall remain after the manner thereof. (First naturally the city was built after Babylon captivity, second the spiritual city the new Jerusalem church was built upon the ruins of the Jewish Roman war ruins of Jerusalem city)Jer 31:2 Thus saith the Lord, The people which were left of the sword not killed found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, ( first they were naturally in the wilderness and then spiritually it was Israel believing Jewish church woman that was chased in the wilderness that God had grace on. when I went to cause him to rest Jesus healed the wound 1st by bringing them back to Jerusalem and 2nd spiritually when he gave his people rest by 1. Died on the Cross 2. Brought the new covenant 3 Came at Pentecost and made his dwelling place or abode within his people & this gave his people rest and this was all established in 70 Ad.

I can see why most dispensationalists (future rapture believers) believe that Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 beast from the sea is the following group of Gentile nations, but they dont understand the first comes the natural and then the spiritual concept. I believe that this group is actually the first natural group of beast, but the spiritual are Israelite beasts, which are the real beasts from the sea. Here is the list

The natural Beasts in Daniel 7 which came out of the sea?

This beast in Revelation 13, which also comes out of the sea.

  1. A leopard body (Greece);
    2. Bear feet (Media Persia),
    3. A lion's mouth, (Babylon)
    4. The terrible beast (Roman)

The real spiritual Beasts are listed in the article below from

This is excerpts from the article The 4 Beast Vision by Mr. Colin Heath-

THE GREAT SEA - The great sea represents the multitude of people
supported by the national structure of the 12 tribes. (Note, Jude 13
where 'raging waves of the sea' represents people. Also in Rev 17:15
we observe the symbol 'waters' used to represent groups of people.)

The four beasts which arise from this Great Sea, arise out of Israel!

Hence, depicting four different 'kingdom' forms of Israel.

To try and identify the four beasts, one has to reflect upon the biblical
history of Israel and also consider other relevant prophecies.
The 1st Beast Lion with eagle's Wings
The first beast is presented in 2 forms:

     - like a lion with eagle's wings

     - like a lion standing on 2 feet with the heart of a man.

The first form emphasizes strength and movement. The promises made
initially by God to Abraham and Isaac were the source of the strength
of Jacob and his descendants.

The main thrust of the eagle symbolism is the journeying of the children
of Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land.

Exodus 19:4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and
how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you
                 to Myself.

The second form of the lion focuses upon the time immediately following
the settlement of the children of Israel in the Promised Land. The eagle
wings were removed from the lion and it was made to stand on two feet
(presumably both sides of the river Jordan).

A man's heart was given to the lion, symbolizing a heart which was soft,
but also a heart which could become hard and rebel against God.

2nd Beast a Bear with 3 ribs

The second beast is like a bear raised up on one side with 3 ribs in its
mouth (between it's teeth). It was told to devour much flesh.

The Aramaic "and side one appointed/established" has been commonly thought
to refer to the raising up of one side of the body of the bear.

However, in the history of Israel there is the unexpected separate
establishment of the 10 tribed house of Israel as a separate kingdom.
(Refer 1 Kings 11:9,13,29-40; 12:1-16; 2Chr 10:1-19.)

And so the former 12 tribed nation of Israel came to an end and Israel
became a 10 tribed nation (quite separate from the Judean kingdom ruled
by the descendants of David).

The promise of an enduring kingdom was made to Jeroboam if he heeded
all the commandments of God. Refer 1 Kings 11:37-39.

After failure to obey God, failure to devour the Word of God, the
household of Jeroboam was brought to an end (1 Kings 15:29-30). The
same fate befell the subsequent households of Baasha (1 Kings 16:11-13)
and Ahab (2 Kings 10:1-11).

In the end failure to consume the Word of God caused God to cast this
kingdom of Israel out of His sight.

The third beast was like a leopard and had 4 bird wings and 4 heads.

And -
Dominion was given to it.

[ NB: It may be thought that this beast should be shown with
four pairs of wings, because of the four heads. However,
it can be seen from other examples that wings are counted
        individually, refer Isa 6:2, Ezek 1:6, Rev 4:8 & 12:14. ]

This beast is a representation of the kingdom established by Josiah.
While Josiah was crowned the king of Judah, he exerted his authority
over the land formerly occupied by the house of Israel.
Refer, 2Chr 34:6-7. (Hence the comment, "dominion was given to it".)

The arrival of King Josiah was predicted by a prophet of God hundreds
of years before Josiah's actual birth.

1Kings 13:2 Then he cried out against the altar by the word
of the LORD, and said, "O altar, altar! Thus says
the LORD: 'Behold, a child, Josiah by name, shall
be born to the house of David; and on you he shall
sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn
incense on you, and men's bones shall be burned on

King Josiah was a highly noteworthy king!

2Kings 23:25 Now before him there was no king like him, who
turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all
his soul, and with all his might, according to
all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise
                 like him.

Following the death of Josiah, four of his descendants reigned as kings
and they each experienced captivity in a foreign land. These were;

                 1) Jehoahaz (2Kings 23:31-34)
                 2) Eliakim renamed Jehoiakim (2Kings 23:34, 2Chr 36:6)
                 3) Jehoiachin also named Coniah (2Kings 24:8,12)
                 4) Mattaniah renamed Zedekiah (2Kings 24:17,25:7).

This beast is presented with two pairs of bird like wings, because
these four kings were all carried off as captives to either Babylon
or Egypt.

The line of Zerubbabel, who led the return from captivity, was traced
traced through King Jehoiachin (refer Matt 1:11-16.) It was through
Zerubbabel and later descendants that the life of this kingdom was
The 4th Beast
The last beast was dreadful, terrible and strong and possessed huge iron
teeth. With these teeth and its feet it was devouring, breaking and
trampling what was left.

This beast is described as taking 2 forms:

     - ten horns

     - seven horns and a little horn.

This 4th beast is initially introduced with the comment, "I saw in the

night visions" (Dan 7:7). Daniel had already documented in Dan 7:1-2
that the vision came to him by night, so this later comment suggests
the beginning of a period of end-time spiritual darkening.

This 10 horn entity is described as having teeth of iron and nails of
bronze. This suggests the presence of elements of the 3rd and 4th parts
of the Daniel chapter 2 statue.

The first 3 horns appear to portray the Jewish faith - a reflection of
the three divisions of Levi who attended the tabernacle, Numbers 3:17,
The latter 7 horns, the Christian faith - a reflection of the seven
lampstands amongst which the Son of Man stands, Rev 1:12-13, and the
7 horns of the Christ lamb, Rev 6:6.

This union of 10 kings/kingdoms sets about verbally attacking other
smaller non-aligned church groups desiring to teach the word of God.

So in summary, this 4th beast appears to be a Jewish/Christian composite
of denominations, which join together with the aim of becoming the only
organisation to represent God. These, through the vehicle of this beast,
oppress and persecute dissenting groups. (Which was the 7 christian half)TG

The second stage of the 4th beast arose when the little horn appeared on
the scene and displaced the leaderships ('kings') of the first 3 horns.
The period 'a month and a year' expires with the appearance of the little
horn and the Great Tribulation began.
This little horn speaks great words
and has eyes. These factors make him
greater than the remaining 7 horns,
Daniel 7:20.

This little horn brings persecution
upon the saints for the symbolic
duration of '3.5 times' (3 ½ year tribulation 66 ½ to 70 A.D)TG (Dan 7:25).

The symbolic displacing of the 3 horns by the little horn represents
Satan gaining control of the Jewish faith. A number of other prophecies
portray this event as the end-time fall of Jerusalem. The Satanic entity
accomplishes this victory with the assistance of the 'armies' of the (Romans)TG

Upon the expiry of the period appointed for the rulership of the little
horn, the 4th beast kingdom was given to the saints of God.

To truly understand this Daniel 7 prophecy it is necessary to also
consider the only time period provided.

Dan 7:12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their
dominion taken away, yet their lives were
prolonged for a season and a time.

- A Season and a Time -

The word 'season' in the text is being used in an indefinite
sense, rather than as a representation of 3 months. The word
'season' could therefore be equally rendered 'period' or
The word 'time' is the same word found in Dan 4:16, where it
is commonly considered to mean 'year'.
What span of time is being defined by 'a season and a time'?

Obviously this period of prolonged life must begin with the removal of
dominion from the 3rd kingdom. However, when this period expires is less

Having already considered that the first 3 horns of the 4th beast are
Jewish, suggests that this period of prolonged/lengthened life ends
when the 3 horns are removed by the little horn.

There is an indication in the book of Zechariah that three shepherds
are removed in a symbolic month.

Zech 11:8 I dismissed the three shepherds in one month.
My soul loathed them, and their soul also
                 abhorred me.

[ The period of a month is also mentioned twice in
chapter 6 of the prior chapter, Daniel 6:7,12. However, in
this context any symbolic meaning would seem better suited
to the time of the little horn. ]

The period of a 'month' is mentioned adjacent to the term 'year' in;

Rev 9:15 So the four angels, who had been prepared
for the hour and day and month and year,
were released to kill a third of mankind.

There is a suggestion that the Daniel 7:12 'a season and a year' could
be understood as 'a month and a year'.

A possible meaning;

symbolic month - duration of Babylonian(/Jerusalem representing spiritual Babylon captivity of 70 A.D)TG

symbolic year - duration of the bands of bronze and iron
                           on the Great Tree

Beast and False prophet Revelation 13 sea beast-land beast 666
Excerpts from this website. I do not agree with everything he believes, because he believes some things are yet future and I believe they are fulfilled.
By Colin Heath http://www.bibleinsight.com/rev13.html

Chapter 13 of the book of Revelation has long hidden its teaching, but

it is time it was made clearer.

Revelation 13 presents descriptions of two beasts,

                    - a beast from the sea (verse 1)
                    - a beast from the land (verse 11).

These are often rightly linked to the entities beast and false prophet
(entities mentioned in Revelation 16:13, 19:20 and 20:10).

Associated with these beasts is the number 666 (verse 18).

A number of details are presented in the Revelation text which assist
the reader in identifying this beast.

            - Mention of leopard, bear and lion.
            - 7 heads, 10 horns, 10 crowns on horns.
            - One of the heads mortally wounded, but
            - Duration of '42 months' after the healing
              of the wound.
            - It wars against the saints and is given
            - 666 is the number of the beast and a man.

Many commentators discussing this beast rightly start with a consideration
of the lion, bear and leopard beasts presented in Daniel chapter 7. Since
these beasts have historically been considered as representations of the
Babylonian, Medo-Persian and Greek Empires, the 'beast' is usually assumed
to depict a Gentile arrangement. However, this is where fundamental error
creeps in. Few fully appreciate that the greater teachings of the book of
Daniel were cloaked within a Gentile guise to conceal God's message.

The focal point of all biblical prophecy is the entity known as 'Israel'!

Scripture records that 'Israel' was the firstborn son of God, refer
Exodus 4:22.

With this different approach how should we view the 7 heads, 10 horns and
10 crowns?

The prophecy tells us that one of the heads had been 'mortally wounded'
and 'healed'. The major historical wound of Israel was the fall of the
final remnant kingdom of the once proud national of Israel to the
Kingdom of Babylon. This deadly wound was healed thereafter by God.
However, after this healing Israel was no more than a shadow of it's
former self. Still, it retained some power since it preserved the
Scriptures and represented what remained of the Old Covenant faith.

Therefore with this prophetic approach the 7 heads would portray 7
past/future Israelite kingdoms. The 7 kings of Rev 17:10 (five fallen,
one is, one to come) and the 7 heads of Daniel chapter 7 (1 lion, 1 bear,
4 leopard and 1 fourth beast) being implied.

The 10 horns and 10 crowns can be explained by returning to Daniel
chapter 7. They are the 10 kingdoms and 10 kings of the final beast
form of Israel.

The Beast Elements

The knowledge of the timing of the deadly wound enables us to correctly
place in time the rise of the first three beasts mentioned in Daniel
chapter 7; the lion, the bear and the leopard beasts. The allusion in
Rev 13:2 to a composite Lion/Bear/Leopard beast suggests the true
original Lion, Bear and Leopard forms all arose in Israel before the
wound was inflicted.
The healed head mentioned in Revelation was the head of the Judean king
Jehoiachin. It is from this king that the rulership line was maintained;
from this line Jesus Christ traced his kingly ancestry (refer Matt 1:12

The 'rising up out of the sea' description of the origin of the healed
beast is alluding to its appearing from the nations, mainly from Babylon.

The text of Revelation 13 mentions that the beast from the sea is the one
which kills the saints. This has indeed been the action of the leaders of

Acts 7:51 You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears!
You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers
                 did, so do you.
:52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute?
And they killed those who foretold the coming of the
                 Just One, ...

Number 666

The name/number of the beast from the sea is said to also be the number
of a man (Rev 13:17-18). Obviously Israel is the name of a nation, which
but also of a symbolic son of God (recall Exodus 4:22).
At a lesser level we know that Jacob's name was changed by God to 'Israel',
refer Gen 32:27-28).
However, the number 666 also suggests 2nd lesser connection to another
actual person, King Solomon!.

The number '666' is presented in some received texts as "600 60 6".
While the bible almost always records numbers (both small and large)
in word form (eg 'two hundred and seventy-six' in Acts 27:37) in this
case the number is recorded in the numeric form (where letters are used
to represent numbers).

   = Chi = 600
   = Xi = 60
   = Stigma = 6

The number '666' is referred to in 3 other places.

     - Ezra 2:13 - number of the people of Adonikam who
                   returned to Jerusalem from Babylon
     - 1 Kings 10:14 - '666 talents of gold'

     - 2 Chron 9:13 - '666 talents of gold'

The last two references are relevant. Both refer to a fixed annual
income received every year by Solomon. The source of this income is
not stated, but a number of possible sources are excluded.

1King 10:15 besides that from the traveling merchants, from
the income of traders, from all the kings of Arabia,
and from the governors of the country.

The fixed nature of this income suggests a 'rental income' and indeed
Solomon was the recipient of a significant rental income from many
large vineyards.

Song 8:11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baal Hamon; he leased
the vineyard to keepers; everyone was to bring
for its fruit a thousand silver coins.
:12 My own vineyard is before me. You, O Solomon,
have a thousand, and those who tend its fruit
                 two hundred (each).

This rental income was also alluded to in Isaiah.

Isa 7:23 It shall happen in that day, that wherever there
could be a thousand vine(yards)s worth a thousand
(mina each) of silver, It will be for briers
                 and thorns.

These verses indicate that in the time of Solomon;

  1,000 silver x 1,000 vineyards x 200 people = 200 million silver pieces
                                              = 1 million silver mina
                                              = 666 gold talents

[ Notes 1) Indicates that each 200 silver pieces received
composed a silver mina. (Refer the shekel
discussion in the 'Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin'
               prophecy presentation.)
           2) For 1 million silver mina to equate to 666 gold
talents a deflated value for silver would be
necessary. During the reign of Solomon silver
was indeed in excess supply and undervalued.
1 Kings 10:27 "And the king made silver to be
               in Jerusalem as stones"
           3) The word for 'calculate' or 'count' in Rev 13:18
is Strongs G5585 and means to 'use pebbles in
enumeration'. (So is interesting that the above
1 Kings 10:27 verse compares silver to stones.) ]

From the above verses it appears that Solomon, as king of Israel, had
control of Israel's vineyards and rented them to whom he pleased. In
the same way the future beast would control who would be permitted to
control the spiritual vineyard of God. In other words, who would be able
to 'trade' in the wine/teachings of God.

Identifying the beast of Revelation 13:1-10 as various forms of the
entity 'Israel' helps place the second beast in perspective.

The beast from the land is not directly identified in the Revelation
13 chapter as the False Prophet, but the comparison to the following
verse strongly suggests this conclusion.

Rev 19:20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the
false prophet who worked signs in his presence,
by which he deceived those who received the
mark of the beast and those who worshiped his

The main actions of the beast from the land are;

                 1) Causing the creation of a more tangible
                     image of the first beast.
                 2) Ensuring this image is worshiped.

(The false prophet is Israel because all throughout the old and new Testament it was Israel that prophesied lies to Gods Kings, priest, people.I will soon finish an article full of scriptures of Israelites false prophesying. T.G.)

The negative description of the beast after the mention of the 42 months,
ie after verse 5, appears to relate to the yet future end-time form brought
into existence by the beast from the land.

It will be a beast (it was a beast that was a T.G.) blasphemous religious organization which will seek to bring (which did seek to bring T.G.)
the people of God into spiritual captivity. So in this way many will be (Was T.G.)
symbolically marked in their minds (foreheads) and religious work (right

People and groups which do (Did T.G.) not 'fall into line' will (Were to T.G.) be dis-fellowshipped
and otherwise suppressed (symbolically killed). This organization will (Did T.G.) seek
to fully control God's vineyard work.

In real terms this chapter is talking about the creation of the 10 horned
(Daniel 7:7) future (Past T.G.) 'image' form of Israel. A composite Jewish/Christian
organization which all spiritual tribes, tongues and nations, ie Jewish
and Christian groups, will (were T.G.) be expected to worship.

Many reading the Revelation chapter 13 prophecy consider the text is
describing the final corrupt situation prior to the establishment of
the Kingdom of God.

However, the Daniel chapter 7 portrayal shows (showed T.G) a further truly Satanic
era will (Did .G.) follow this period of religious dictatorship. It shows (shows T.G.) that
a little horn (Satan T.G.) will (did T.G) arise, plucking out 3 horns,(3 horns were The first 3 horns appear to portray the Jewish faith Dan 7:1-2 T.G.) and speak pompous words
against the Most High.

It is during this time that those religious leaders who have led into
captivity will (were T.G.) themselves go into captivity, when those who have killed
with the sword (word of God) will themselves be killed.(They did go into captivity in 70 A.D. T.G.)

In summary Revelation chapter 13 is describing several successive periods
of time.

               - Lion, bear and leopard era
               - Healed 42 months beast form (42 months represented 3 ½ years trib T.G.)
               - End-time 'image of the original beast'
               - Time of vengeance upon the beast

Scriptures where Israelites represents a beast-

Beast 14,21

Jer 10: 14,21 Every man is a [h]beast by his own knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his melting is but falsehood, and there is no breath therein. 22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the [n]North country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

Jer 9:10-11 10 Upon the [i]mountains will I take up a weeping and a lamentation, and upon the fair places of the wilderness a mourning, because they are burnt up, so that none can pass through them, neither can men hear the voice of the flock: both the fowl of the air, and the beast(unbelieving Jews) are fled away and gone.

11 And I will make Jerusalem an heap, and a den of dragons (Demons), and I will make the cities of Judah waste without an inhabitant.

In 70 A.D. the unbelieving Jews were either killed or taken away as slaves and Judah was a waste without an inhabitant of Gods people. The Jews that are there today are not actually Jewish bloodline out of their own mouths and writings. It is well known that they are Gentiles that converted to Judaism back in the 7th century. Before that they were Khazar's Edomites.

4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds, because they said, [e]He will not see our last end. 5 If thou hast run with the [f]footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou match thyself with horses? and if thou thoughtest thyself safe in a peaceable land, what wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

9 Shall mine heritage be unto me, as a bird [i]of divers colors? are not the birds about her, saying, Come, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to eat her?

This is not referring to literal beast and birds, but the Israelites.

The Beast of Revelation Was Zealot-Led Israel: Introduction and Outline

7 Votes

In Matthew 21:43-45 Jesus stunned the religious leaders of Israel by telling them that the kingdom of God would be taken out of their hands and given to another nation. His statement, however, didn’t come out of nowhere. Compare the words of Jesus to what is said in Daniel 2 and 7, where we read about the transition from the fourth kingdom to the everlasting kingdom of God. I’ve letter-coded and highlighted the parallels (A, B, C, D, and E):

Therefore I say to you, [A] the kingdom of God will be taken from you and [B] given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on [C] this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it [D] will grind him to powder. Now when the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they perceived that [E] He was speaking of them” (Matthew 21:43-45).

You watched while [C] a stone was cut out without hands, which [D] struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were [D] crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And [C] the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth… And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up [A] a kingdom which shall never be destroyed … The fourth beast shall be [E] a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, trample it and break it in pieces… Then [A] the kingdom and dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be [B] given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom…” (Daniel 2:34-35, 44; 7:23, 27).

This chart also helps to show the parallels, and how Jesus confirmed the identity of Nebuchadnezzar’s fourth kingdom (Daniel 2), Daniel’s fourth beast (Daniel 7), and the beast of Revelation:

Daniel 2:34-35, 44 Daniel 7:23, 27 Matthew 21:43-45
A. “a kingdom” “the kingdom” “the kingdom”
B. “given to the people, the saints of the Most High” “given to a nation bearing the fruits of it”
C. “a stone”; “the stone” “this stone”
D. “struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces”; “crushed together” “ will grind him to powder”
E. “a fourth kingdom on earth” “He was speaking of them”

From the time I became a preterist in 2009 until about six months ago, I was convinced that the beast of the Book of Revelation was Nero and the Roman Empire. After all, the Greek philosopher Apollonius of Tyana (15-98 AD) explicitly referred to Nero as “a beast.” After all, a certain form of Nero’s name, “Nrwn Qsr,” when calculated using Hebrew gematria, is said to equal “666.” After all, Nero persecuted Christians…

At the same time, I was failing to reconcile the Rome/Nero model of the beast with certain passages in Daniel 2, Daniel 7, and Revelation 19. Despite those issues, I never thought I would abandon the Roman model of the beast. This was true even in July 2016 when I made a case for viewing the 10 horns of Revelation 17 as the 10 Jewish generals named by Josephus in Wars 2.20.3-4. For about a week, I considered a reader’s suggestion that there were three beasts in the book of Revelation: [1] the sea beast with seven heads and 10 horns (Roman) [2] the land beast with two horns a.k.a. the false prophet (Jewish), and [3] the scarlet beast with seven heads and 10 horns (Jewish). Ultimately, that didn’t work either.

I decided it was time to restudy and reconsider “the beast.” I decided to not only pay attention to all 35 verses where a beast is mentioned in Revelation, but also to reconcile this study with what is said about the fourth beast/kingdom in Daniel 2 and 7. This study has revealed that the fourth beast – depicted first as iron, and later as iron and clay (Daniel 2:40-43) – was not Rome and Nero. It was Israel, and it was the Zealots who conquered that nation like kings and brought it to destruction.

If we take a close look at Daniel 2 and 7, and then compare it to what Jesus said in Matthew 21:43-45, isn’t it clear that Jesus identified Israel (and its leaders) as the “feet of iron and clay” that would soon be struck and crushed by the rock in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream? Didn’t Jesus portray Israel, not Rome, as the fourth kingdom which would lose the kingdom and be destroyed at the very time that it would be given into the hands of the saints? In this series, we will take a deeper look at all this and more in Daniel 2 and 7 before going on to examine various passages in Revelation 11, 13-17, and 19-20 which speak about the beast.

A Summary of Evidence that the Beast Was Israel, Not Rome

The following is some of the evidence that will be shown in this series for why the beast of Revelation was Israel and not Rome:

*Nebuchadnezzar saw a great image in his dream, and the legs and feet (Daniel 2:33, 40) were the fourth kingdom. Babylon was the head of that image (verse 38), and the feet were the final stage. When the feet were struck by the stone, they were broken into pieces and the entire statue was crushed (verses 34-35, 44-45). At that time, the kingdom of God was set up (verses 35, 44). At that time, Rome was neither crushed nor in its final stage, but Israel was crushed (see Matthew 21:43-44).

*The fourth beast of Daniel 7 was a fourth kingdom (verses 7, 17, 23). Daniel watched as the fourth “beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame” (verse 11). This did not happen to Rome, but it definitely happened to Israel.

*Revelation 11 says that the beast would kill the two witnesses, and that in that same hour an earthquake would kill 7000 people in Jerusalem. In Wars of the Jews Josephus describes an earthquake which took place in late February or early March 68 AD. That same night an army of Idumeans, working on behalf of the Zealots, killed those who tried to keep them out of the city. The next morning 8500 dead bodies were found. The Romans were not in Jerusalem from November 66 AD until early 70 AD, but the Jewish Zealots were there and they not only engaged in mass murder at that time but also prevented victims from being buried (Rev. 11:9).

*In Revelation 13:4 those who worshipped the beast said, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” In Jewish education, it’s taught that Judah Maccabee carried the following expression on his standard when he went to battle around 165 BC: “Who is like unto thee among the mighty, O Lord!” Apparently, a strikingly similar expression was attributed to the Zealots when they slaughtered Roman garrisons at Masada and Jerusalem, and surprisingly defeated the armies of Cestius Gallus in November 66 AD. This expression reflected the excited hope that the Zealots were about to obtain full independence for Judea the way the Maccabees did 200 years before that.

*Revelation 13 shows a second beast, later called “the false prophet,” working closely with and on behalf of the first beast, and even performing signs and wonders. Josephus repeatedly spoke of false prophets working closely with the Zealots (in fact, being hired by them), promoting the war agenda of the Zealots, and claiming to perform signs and wonders.

*The fifth bowl judgment (Revelation 16:10) was poured out “on the throne of the beast,” resulting in darkness, sores, and pain. In Leviticus 26:18-28 God repeatedly warned Israel that a time would come when they would be punished “seven times” for their sins, as God would execute the vengeance of His covenant (verse 25). It’s no coincidence that the covenant imagery of Mount Sinai (Exodus 19) appears in the opening of the seventh seal, the sounding of the seventh trumpet, and the pouring out of the seventh bowl. Those seven-fold judgments were reserved for Israel alone. They were not for Rome, so it follows that when the fifth bowl judgment was poured out “on the throne of the beast,” it was Israel, not Rome, which experienced that darkness and pain. It was Israel that hosted the kingdom of the beast.

*Revelation 16:13-14 describes the dragon, beast, and false prophet working together to gather a mass of people to a great battle. Josephus went to great lengths to describe how the Zealots and the false prophets worked together to compel the people of Israel to go to war, killing and torturing those who wouldn’t go along with their agenda.

*In Revelation 17:3 the beast was shown to be scarlet for a reason that was significant to first century Israel. According to both the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud, on the Day of Atonement a scapegoat bearing the sins of the people would be released into the wilderness (see Leviticus 16). The scapegoat would wear a crimson (red/scarlet)-colored strap, and it would become white once it reached the wilderness, indicating that God had forgiven their sins. This miracle happened every year. However, says the Babylonian Talmud, “During the last forty years before the destruction of the Temple the lot ‘For the Lord’ did not come up in the right hand; nor did the crimson-colored strap become white.” Also according to the Jerusalem Talmud, “the crimson thread remained crimson.” This appears to be why the beast was seen as scarlet.

*In Revelation 17:16 John was told that the 10 horns of the beast would make the harlot desolate, eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. Josephus repeatedly blamed the Jewish Zealots for the destruction of Israel, Jerusalem, and the temple. He also repeatedly blamed the Zealots for the fire that consumed the temple. He even referred to the Zealots as a wild beast eating its own flesh.

*In Revelation 19:19-20, it’s said that the beast would be captured at the coming of Christ and cast into the lake of fire. This did not happen to Nero or Rome in the first century, but it happened to the Zealot leaders of Israel.

Paul, Peter, and Jude Referred to the Jewish Leaders as “Beasts”

In I Corinthians 15:32 Paul said that he had “fought with beasts at Ephesus.” There is no record that he wrestled with bears, mountain lions, or any other animal. He did, however, deal with Judaizers (Acts 19:8-9, Ephesians 6:12; I Timothy 1:3-4). Likewise, Peter referred to the false prophets (II Peter 2:1) of his day as “natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed” (verse 12).

Jude also said that there were “brute beasts” (Jude 10) among the saints, and that Enoch had prophesied about them that Christ would come “with ten thousands of His saints [or ‘angels’], to execute judgment on all” (Jude 14-15). This prophecy is found in Enoch 1:9, and Enoch specified that it would happen 70 generations after the time of Noah (Enoch 10:11-14). Luke confirmed that Jesus’ generation was that 70th generation (Luke 3:23-37).

Josephus Also Referred to the Jewish Leaders as “Beasts”

In early 68 AD Jesus, one of the former high priests, gave this description of the Jewish Zealots in his speech to the Idumeans who had been invited by the Zealots to make war on Jerusalem:

“You may, if you please, come into the city, though not in the way of war, and take a view of the marks still remaining of what I now say, and may see the houses that have been depopulated by their rapacious hands, with those wives and families that are in black, mourning for their slaughtered relations; as also you may hear their groans and lamentations all the city over; for there is nobody but hath tasted of the incursions of these profane wretches, who have proceeded to that degree of madness, as not only to have transferred their impudent robberies out of the country, and the remote cities, into this city, the very face and head of the whole nation, but out of the city into the temple also; for that is now made their receptacle and refuge, and the fountain-head whence their preparations are made against us. And this place, which is adored by the habitable world, and honored by such as only know it by report, as far as the ends of the earth, is trampled upon by these wild beastsborn among ourselves” (Wars 4.4.3).

Josephus described Simon Bar Giora, a Zealot leader, in this way:

“This success of Simon excited the zealots afresh; and though they were afraid to fight him openly in a fair battle, yet did they lay ambushes in the passes, and seized upon his wife, with a considerable number of her attendants; whereupon they came back to the city rejoicing, as if they had taken Simon himself captive, and were in present expectation that he would lay down his arms, and make supplication to them for his wife; but instead of indulging any merciful affection, he grew very angry at them for seizing his beloved wife; so he came to the wall of Jerusalem, and, like wild beasts when they are wounded, and cannot overtake those that wounded them, he vented his spleen upon all persons that he met with. Accordingly, he caught all those that were come out of the city gates, either to gather herbs or sticks, who were unarmed and in years; he then tormented them and destroyed them, out of the immense rage he was in, and was almost ready to taste the very flesh of their dead bodies”(Wars 4.9.8).

Later he gave this description of the civil wars in Jerusalem:

“When therefore Titus had marched over that desert which lies between Egypt and Syria, in the manner forementioned, he came to Cesarea, having resolved to set his forces in order at that place, before he began the war. Nay, indeed, while he was assisting his father at Alexandria, in settling that government which had been newly conferred upon them by God, it so happened that the sedition at Jerusalem was revived, and parted into three factions, and that one faction fought against the other; which partition in such evil cases may be said to be a good thing, and the effect of Divine justice. Now as to the attack the zealots made upon the people, and which I esteem the beginning of the city’s destruction, it hath been already explained after an accurate manner; as also whence it arose, and to how great a mischief it was increased. But for the present sedition, one should not mistake if he called it a sedition begotten by another sedition, and to be like a wild beast grown mad, which, for want of food from abroad, fell now upon eating its own flesh” (Wars 5.1.1).

Other references to the Jews as “beasts” can be seen in Wars 3.8.6 and Wars 5.2.5.

35 Verses Which Speak of a “Beast” in Revelation

The beast is spoken of in 35 verses in the book of Revelation (NKJV) – directly in 29 verses, and by a pronoun (“he” or “him”) in six more. To be clear, nine of these verses (Revelation 13:11-16; 16:13; 19:20; and 20:10) speak of a second beast, later called “the false prophet.” I’ve highlighted the references to “the beast” in red, and the references to the second beast, a.k.a. “the false prophet,” in green. These are the passages that will be examined in this series, along with Daniel 2 and 7:

Verse or Passage Scripture Text

(Rev. 11:7)

7 “When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them” (Revelation 11:7).

-This is a reference to the two witnesses being killed by the beast. See Rev. 11:3-13.

(Rev. 13:1-8)

1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.
Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him hispower, his throne, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and hisdeadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.
4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

-In verses 5-8 this beast is referred to by the pronouns “he” and “him”:

5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for 42 months.
6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.
7 And it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
8 And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

(Rev. 13:11-18)

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.

14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.
15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

16 And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

(Rev. 14:9, 11)

9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. And he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

(Rev. 15:2)

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete.
2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.

(Rev. 16:2)

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”
2 So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.

(Rev. 16:10)

10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain.

(Rev. 16:13)

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

(Rev. 17:3)

3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

(Rev. 17:7-8)

7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.
8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

(Rev. 17:11-13)

11 And the beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.
12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.
13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.
14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.

(Rev. 17:16-17)

16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.
17 For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.

(Rev. 19:19-20)

19 And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.
20 Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

(Rev. 20:4)

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

(Rev. 20:10)

10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Beast of Revelation

I used to believe that the beast of Revelation was Rome/Nero. During the last half of 2016, however, I came to believe that Zealot-led Israel was “the beast” in the book of Revelation that partnered with the false prophets of first century Israel. The following is an outline for a series I’m creating on this subject, which covers various passages in Daniel 2, 7; Revelation 11, 13-17, 19-20.

In March 2017 I presented a message on this topic at the Blue Point Bible Conference in Long Island, New York. I covered five clues from the book of Revelation concerning the identity of the beast (see this post).
